The Georgian national team was convincing and would of course like to make a positive impression again in the Nations League that is now starting. Never taken part in a European Championship before and then made it to the round of 16 as an absolute underdog. There was plenty of celebration in Georgia a few weeks ago. Hardly anyone expected that they would actually make it past the preliminary round. In their group a few months ago Georgia played with Czechia nad the result was 1-1. The Georgians want to make a huge leap up and show that this tournament was no coincidence. The Nations League is of course a good fit for them, as some of the supposedly bigger names do not take the competition so seriously. The other teams in the group are Czechia, Albania and Ukraine, but there are no absolute football superpowers here. Georgia has never played a game without a goal this year. Only two years ago the Czechs were relegated from the elite class of the Nations League. They only managed one win against Switzerland, Spain and Portugal and that was in their opening match with a 2-1 victory against the Swiss. Here once again they conceded a goal.
